The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has presented the Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering /Technical Development since 1948. For the third year in a row, the Awards will be presented at the International CES.
Awards are presented to an individual, company, or to a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies which either represent an extensive improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television.
The awarding of the Emmy statue to this year's Technology and Engineering winners takes place during an evening ceremony on January 7, 2009 in Las Vegas. For ticket information, call 212-484-9440 or e-mail events@emmyonline.tv.

- Ongoing Live Global HD Cinemacasting: the Metropolitan Opera Association
- Help in Developing HDMI: Silicon Image, Thomson, Toshiba, Sony, Matsushita, Hitachi, Philips, Molex, Japan Aviation Electronics (JAE) and Intel
- Standardization of the ATSC Digital System: the Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service, the Advanced Television System Committee, the Advanced Television Test Center and the Advanced Television Evaluation Laboratory
