Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft Corp., will deliver a pre-CES keynote address on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 after being the first business manager hired by Bill Gates, and was named chief executive officer in 2000. With Microsoft's goal to provide an integrated platform to enable a seamless experience across a range of computing and non-PC devices and services, Ballmer is focused on continuing Microsoft's innovation and leadership across the company's seven businesses. He is known for his unique leadership style and strong passion for the technology industry.

Sony Corporation Keynote Address
Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO
CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro will precede the Sony keynote with his State of the CE Industry Address at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 8.
Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO, Sony Corporation, will then officially kick off the 2009 International CES. Sir Howard has been chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Corporation since June 2005. He is also a representative corporate executive officer of Sony Corporation. Additionally, Sir Howard serves as chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation of America, as well as corporate head of Sony Corporation's Entertainment Business Group. He is a member of the board of directors of Sony Corporation, and is a Board member of Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Sony Ericsson. He joined Sony Corporation in May 1997. Prior to joining Sony, Sir Howard had a distinguished 30-year career as a journalist, producer and executive at CBS Inc.

President and CEO Alan Mulally
Alan Mulally, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company, will round out the first day of the 2009 CES with an afternoon keynote at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Mulally joined Ford Motor Company as president and CEO in 2006, after serving as executive vice president of The Boeing Company, and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Mulally is known for his innovation and focused leadership, and is implementing an aggressive plan to transform Ford into a lean, global enterprise that delivers products and technologies that customers want and value . He was named “Person of the Year” in 2006 by Aviation Week magazine and one of “The Best Leaders of 2005” by BusinessWeek magazine.

Technology and Emerging Countries Keynote Address

Intel Chairman Craig Barrett and Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers will speak at the 2009 International CES as part of the second annual Technology and Emerging Countries Program (TEC), which focuses on the role technology plays to further economic growth.

About the speakers:
Craig Barrett has served as Intel’s chairman of the board since May 2005 and has been a leading advocate for improving education in the U.S. and around the world. He is a vocal spokesman for the value technology can provide in raising social and economic standards globally. Barrett also is chairman of the Intel Foundation, which contributes tens of millions of dollars to education and nonprofit organizations in communities around the world. Barrett chairs the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development (UN GAID) and co-chairs the Business Coalition for Student Achievement and the National Innovation Initiative Leadership Council. Through his role with the UN GAID, Barrett partnered with the International Telecommunications Union and World Bank to develop the Connect Africa initiative to improve Internet connectivity across the continent.
John Chambers is chairman and CEO of Cisco. Since January 1995, when he assumed the role of CEO, Chambers has grown the company from $1.2 billion in annual revenues to approximately $40 billion. In November 2006, he was named chairman of the board, in addition to his CEO role. Chambers plays an active role in philanthropic activities worldwide. Chambers recently traveled to China with other U.S. private and public sector leaders as members of a U.S. Business Roundtable delegation. Cisco has committed $45 million to support rebuilding efforts in China's earthquake-affected Sichuan Province. He also received the Award for Corporate Excellence for Cisco’s partnership with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and the World Economic Forum to develop the Jordan Education Initiative to improve education to Jordan’s citizens. Chambers was also on the forefront of the 21st Century School Initiative, working to improve educational opportunities for the Gulf Coast areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Chambers and Barrett co-led a delegation to form the "Partnership for Lebanon," a group of business leaders working to provide resources for the reconstruction of Lebanon.
